Annual Neighborhood Meetings

For our March meeting, branch members meet in small groups in different neighborhood homes. This more intimate setting gives you the opportunity to enjoy each Gathering of Womenother’s company, share your ideas, and provide suggestions to strengthen our programs, interest groups, and branch. A board member facilitates the discussion and attendees are asked to help provide refreshments.

Watch your email for an invitation from your neighborhood hostess that will include the time, location, directions, and a request for refreshments. Please RSVP so that she can plan to have enough chairs for everyone. The hostess and neighborhood names are listed under Current News.

Plan to be there, as you are an important part of our branch and your neighborhood!

2015 GD Policy Book
Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Published annually, the Great Decisions briefing book highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans today. Great Decisions provides background information, current data and policy options for each issue and serves as the focal text for discussion groups. For more information, go to www.fpa.org

The groups are limited in size and begin in January. Members are asked to commit to joining by paying for their books in September/October. Books are ordered in the fall and generally, the only time to join a group is prior to January. New members may be added if there is an opening; however, they may have to order their book directly from the Foreign Policy Association. Our Great Decisions discussion groups meet once a month, in a group member’s home, with one member facilitating the discussion.

Topics for 2017:

    1. The EU
    2. Trade, Jobs and Politics
    3. China and the U.S. in the South China Sea
    4. Saudi Arabia
    5. U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum
    6. A New Political Era in Latin America
    7. Afghanistan and Pakistan
    8. Nuclear Security

June 10th – Good Company, Good Food!
A Very Successful Summer Social

Ninety-five women, including 26 guests, met Wednesday, June 10, at Yavapai College for AAUW Prescott’s annual Summer Social. The room was full, with lively conversation and an excellent meal provided by AAUW members.

President Gail Shay presided over an introduction of guests, officers, and interest groups, and representatives of the interest groups provided displays and information. Table hostesses and door greeters ensured that guests were welcomed and introduced to AAUW members.
